Taking breaks are good. I think.

I think I said this last week, but it does feel like its been forever. I’m not being very good at keeping up with this blog but I think I’ll just update once or twice a week since I do need to focus more on school and such.

This week was nice. It was pretty busy. I got some of my favorite tacos from Plancha’s (its on 3rd and Sweetzer in LA!) Their chicken street tacos are the best. And they load them with onions and cilantro which are my absolute loves. Nothing else really happened. I don’t think I did that well on my Chem quiz. Even though I studied a bunch. Boooo. And then on Friday, I went dress shopping with Claudia and Muriel which was fun and I didn’t find a dress, but I found a chartreuse top that I’m going to screen print on! Yeee! And yesterday. I spent most of my day in the garage/work space drawing. And I then a bunch of people came over later and we watched X Men. Which was pretty good. Finally, today. I took the pup for a walk this morning and then spent the rest of the day in the garage again. I’m painting some wooden storage boxes for my neighbor. She’s sweet. Then I’m currently working on some designs for RadioDriveBy and The States Seem Smaller. Eeep!

The more colorful, the better!

I was in the mood to cook tonight. So I experimented with some things and it turned out wonderfully. My brother loves it. And he hardly likes my cooking because there’s “too many vegetables”. This time, I sautéed some spinach, kale, chopped onions, carrots, and minced garlic in olive oil. And in another pan, I sautéed some cut up pieces of chicken breast in some olive oil and lemon juice. Then just cooked the wheat pasta regularly. And when they were all done, I mixed ‘em all together in a big bowl. Added a bit of sea salt and fresh ground pepper and grated parmesan. Ta-da!

Well…

It feels like its been forever. Or maybe just four days. I was on such a roll keepin’ up with my blog posts! Whelp. Last week was super busy. I had finals. Math and english. And I’m not good in those classes so I had to direct all the attention and energy I had to that. And I still didn’t do very well. This weekend was nice though since it was four days. On Friday, I went and saw Chronicle with some friends which was fun. But that movie was super bad and I was in a bad mood after because I wasted money on it. Booo. Saturday was nice. I went and picked up Dana from LAX and we had lunch and I dropped her off at her hotel. Then Claudia wanted to do something so of course, we headed to the craft store so I could pick up some paint. And after, I had dinner with the family to celebrate my grandma’s birthday. It was fun and there was some great cousin bonding happenin’ there. On Sunday, I hung out with Katharine. We went shopping at H&M and at the Japanese market (to pick up some fresh Mochi!). She had dinner and later, Claudia came over to talk about things. And giggle and such. And on Monday, I spent the entire day working on clay things in my garage/studio place. Made some bones and hair clips and I love them. Muriel came over later to work on our project but we spent most of the time talking about things like cats and cute friends. And finally, Tuesday. I went to Disneyland. I got to see Leen. (Yay!!!) We went on rides and stuff and it was fun because I haven’t seen her in such a long time.

Tomorrow, I’m really excited because Gissane, Leen, Ally, and I are launching GLAM tomorrow. I’ll be using it as more of an artistic outlet, design and photo and such. Stoked. And then I’ve started using Wunderlist to keep myself more organized. So many design projects. Four O’ Clock Heroes logo and merch. RadioDriveBy merch. Gig poster. States Seem Smaller merch. And Thieves logo. Swamped and lovin’ it.

Oh, how observant!

Today was super sunny. And it was wonderful. So this morning while I was sippin’ on my smoothie, I looked out the window and saw this! Its the Hollywood sign and I’ve never noticed it in all the years I’ve lived in this house. Lovely!

Lookie! Its the thing I’ve been working on with RadioDriveBy for a while. In the beginning, we didn’t really have a great idea of what to do (as so I thought). But as time went on, and drafts were voted yea and nay and I think that what it came out to was pretty darn nice and classy and simplistic and so on and so forth. Check it. New logo. New branding (with my handwriting!) and everything else. Stoked and proud.

And remember to check out their new EP, On Your Way, which will be released this Friday and will be available on iTunes!

Things That Make Me Happy #2

Tonight, I was feelin’ a little nostalgic of all the people I’ve met and done in the last few months. I was deleting a whole bunch of files off my desktop and it made me think about summer and what happened in autumn. Back in October, I was in a really rough place. I’m glad it happened because it really opened the door to many new experiences. So, here’s to a few of my adventures…

Right in October I met Ally and Gissane and Leen. Which was probably one of the best things that’s ever happened to me since they’re such understanding, compassionate, and just all around wonderful people. They really helped me get back up on my feet and having fun. Here’s a picture of us at The Grove in December which was too much fun. And I met Jessica. I think we’re pretty wonderful together. We did Warped together and I saw her at The Cab’s shows in October and the last one, January. I think we’re really cute. I don’t remember when it was, but I went to Santa Cruz and I went to my favorite restaurant ever on the boardwalk. I love a good plate of fish and sautéed spinach and a sparkling ocean. And finally, I doodled. I started drawing again and it felt so great. Now, its part of my routine, habit, whatever. Its really something that makes me happy. La la la. I guess that’s all.

This week has been a mess. And a mess in probably the best possible way, ever. Allura sent me some Natural High stickers. I put the “Love Is My Natural High” one on my day planner and it looks absolutely adorable. And on Sunday, I think it was, I got some new socky socks. How cute?! My love for legwear and polka dots mashed up in one article of clothing. On Friday my Beetlejuice skirt came in the mail and it was exciting because BlackMilk makes me happy and I love anything Tim Burton. Finally, I cleaned my room. Finally, finally, finally. My desk looks especially nice. I stacked up my most-used sketchbooks on my desk and the books I’m currently reading. Then I have my thingy of envelopes and extra prints on my shelf with my collection of mason jars with brushes and pens and markers and pencils inside. And on top of that, I have all my cameras. How pretty! Now, onto the last week of my trimester. Let’s keep our fingers and toes crossed that I do well on my Math final!

Berry Berry Berry

As you may or may not know, smoothies are like…my favorite thing. Ever. And so is my collection of Beatles pint glasses. And the combination of both makes for an absolutely wonderful thing.

What You’ll Need

  • 1/2 a cup of unsweetened Pomegranate Juice
  • 1/2 a cup of unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1/4 a cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 a cup of blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 a cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 scoop of Whey Protein Powder
  • Blender
  • Ice (if you’re using fresh fruit!)

Directions

With a Vitamix Blender

Combine your pomegranate juice and almond milk and protein powder in your blender cup and slowly mix on Variable 1. Increase to Variable 6. Add in your berries one by one and increase to Variable 10 then, High. Blend for another minute.

With a Regular Blender

Combine your pomegranate juice and almond milk and protein powder in your blender cup and blend until mixed. Add in your berries (a few at a time!) and once you’ve added the last of your fruit, let it blend for another minute or so, just so you have a smooth consistency!

Facts

This recipe makes a little over 16 oz and is 200 calories, give or take.

Pomegranates are a great source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and Potassium. And both pomegranates and blueberries contain anthocyanins which are effective against heart disease and infections Plus they’re most popular for being a superfood! Blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries strengthen blood vessels and tighten tissue. They’re super high in Vitamins A, C, E, and K. As well as fiber and Manganese. And pomegranates, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries all contain copious amounts of antioxidants, which have been linked to prevent the development of cancer and heart disease. Almond Milk has a lower caloric content than milk, Vitamin D, calc

ium, Iron, Vitamin A, and Riboflavin (a form of Vitamin B that is essential for metabolic energy production).Whey protein helps to maintain and repair protein tissue, encourages protein synthesis, is easily digested, and “sticks” in your stomach longer! So, this smoothie acts as a meal.

Perfect for a quick brunch…

My cooking is all about experimentation. And with time, I think I’ve gotten pretty good at this one. Baked eggs. (Yay!!!)

So you’ll need some…

  • Baby spinach leaves (two handfuls)
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of heavy cream
  • Mix of mozzarella, jack, and sharp cheddar cheese (to sprinkle on the top)
  • Ground pepper
  • Sea salt

Now onto the makin’…

  1. Preheat your oven to a good 350 degrees F.
  2. Measure out your heavy cream and spinach and add to a pan to sauté on medium heat. You can tell its done when your spinach is a little crinkly and bright green looking.
  3. Chop the spinach into small pieces.
  4. Find a glass bowl (oven-safe!) and lay the spinach on the bottom.
  5. Then crack your eggs on top. (no need to mix!)
  6. Sprinkle your cheese mix and add as much salt and pepper as desired.
  7. And bake for 20 minutes!

Enjoy!
